Product FAQ
Can the M24 inductive proximity switch detect non-metallic objects?
No. This is an inductive-type sensor, specifically designed for metallic target detection. It provides maximum sensitivity for magnetic metals (like iron and steel). While it can detect non-magnetic metals (like aluminum or brass), the sensing distance will be reduced. For non-metallic materials like plastic, glass, or liquid, we recommend using a capacitive proximity sensor.
Does the DC 3-wire version include polarity protection, and is it PLC-compatible?
Yes. Our M24 DC 3-wire series comes standard with integrated reverse polarity and short-circuit protection to prevent damage from wiring errors. The NPN/PNP output logic is fully compatible with industrial PLC digital input modules. With a wide operating voltage of 6–36V DC, it ensures seamless integration into most automated control systems.
Is the M24 sensor suitable for outdoor use, and what extra protection is needed?
Yes. Rated at IP67, this sensor is fully sealed against dust and water, making it suitable for standard outdoor conditions including rain and high humidity. For extreme industrial environments—such as high-pressure washdowns, constant exposure to abrasive dust, or direct sea spray—we recommend installing a protective sleeve or shield to further extend the sensor's operational lifespan.
